A 94 year old woman who passed away in Rome, Italy left a significant fortune to her beloved cat Tommaso. The inheritance, valued at over $13 million dollars includes millions in cash and valuable Italian real estate in Rome, Milan and Calabria.
According to a news report, the elderly woman did not have any heirs and decided to pass her estate onto a stray cat she had rescued a few years earlier. Few people knew how wealthy the old woman was and her nurse was understandably shocked to learn about the great deal of wealth the senior citizen held secret.
Apparently the old woman suffered from depression brought on by loneliness and forged an unshakeable bond with the feline. The nurse said she looked after that cat more than someone would look after a child.
The nurse and millionaire cat have been whisked off to a safe house by authorities to be protected against potential kidnappers and con artists.
Tommaso is the richest cat on earth and third wealthiest pet overall, behind Kalu the chimp, whose owner left him $80 million dollars and Gunther IV, a German shepherd who inherited $372 million dollars.
