A recent incident involving a dog walker who was tasered by a Park Ranger reported previously by petboogie, has gained federal attention. News sources report that congresswoman Jackie Speier is asking an independent party is investigate the incident.
It is understood that Speier sent a letter to GGNRA Superintendent Frank Dean requesting information about the incident in which dog walker, Gary Hesterberg was tasered in the back. Speier has questioned exactly how the public was informed about dog policy changes at Rancho Corral de Tierra that state that dogs are now required to be leashed. According to reports the female ranger had detained the man for walking hist two dogs off-leash. The man appeared to walk away before being cited and after a warning was tasered.
GGNRA officials issued a statement Tuesday saying they have initiated a review of the incident. According to the statement, the dog walker provided false information to the ranger and refused the ranger’s repeated orders to remain at the scene while his identity was confirmed.
