Dreaming of a V.I.P. seat at the Golden Collar Awards? Swapping your ride to the dog park for a limo? Looking for world fame…for your dog? Uggie is about to head for retirement, so your four-legged friend might well be the next canine movie star.
But beware: it’s not an easy job, and even though your pretty puppy might resemble the looks of Marilyn Monroe or George Clooney (please do share your pictures on our dog iPhone app), good looks won’t do the trick.
Famous dogs have gone through extensive training, including obedience classes and agility courses. It takes hours and hours of work and definitely lots of patience. The dogs need to be social, stable, and motivated, and must thrive in any situation.
No dog is born for TV, although purebreds have an advantage over mixed dogs: it is easy to find a double. In the end, a dog being sick can’t be the reason to stop a million dollar production.
And, we have to be honest, that limo is still far out of sight. The pay-off for a dog with talent is not as good as one might expect: while human actors can earn op to $20,000 for a commercial shoot, a dog and its trainer will usually not be paid more than $1,000.
On that note, our iPhone app for dogs is free, and cute pics DO make your dog famous among the Dog Boogie community!
